What is an Air Ambulance?

Air ambulances are private jets that are specially equipped with medical equipment and specially staffed with medical personnel. They’re the go-to means of medical transportation when someone needs to go to a medical facility more than 150 miles from their current location. In addition to medical personnel, air ambulances are staffed with certified pilots who have thousands of hours of safe flights under their belts.

Air ambulance flights can be used for a variety of reasons - someone could have a paralysis from a stroke, be stabilized at a trauma hospital, and then have a medical flight to go to a Center of Excellence for longer-term recovery and rehabilitation. Other times, people who have recently had traumatic brain injuries are too fragile to fly commercially, and a medical flight is used to get them to a center of excellence for healing.
